These aluminium surge tanks feature a quality polished alloy finish. Featuring approximately 1.5 liters of capacity, these tanks provide your fuel system with the safety reserve that is needed in high power cars. The tanks themselves feature ORB ports and are then supplied with fittings to suit.
Not all surge tanks are created equal! These quality surge tanks are made from a high grade robotically welded aluminium. We also stock a range of accessories including fuel pumps, fuel pump brackets, filters, braided line, fittings and more! Proflow 1.5lt Dual Outlet Polished Surge Tank with Barb & -AN Fittings.
Barbed/Push on fittings are 1/2" x 1, 3/8" x 3, AN fittings are -8 x 1, -6 x 3. Designed for single pump but twin pumps can be used with a Y piece. Surge tank dimensions approx 195mm height (not including fittings) x 100mm diameter. Base dimensions approx 133mm x 133mm.
Suitable for use with many different external fuel pumps including Bosch 044, 085 & 910 & Walbro GSL392. A surge tank is necessary when fitting EFI to non EFI vehicles.
The surge tank acts in the same manner as a swirl pot, supplying an even flow of fuel to the injectors. To convert some carbureted vehicles to EFI, we recommend fitting a fuel surge tank to avoid fuel feed problems, especially during hard cornering. This is also useful on many high powered EFI cars which have poorly baffled tanks.
Usually the tank is mounted in the boot. Fuel is piped to it by either a stock engine driven mechanical pump or a low pressure electric pump. Often the stock electric pump can be used.
A high pressure EFI pump will be mounted below the surge tank. The fuel gravity feeds into this pump and goes to the fuel rail.
The schematic below shows a common setup for both EFI and carby conversion setups.
